I am looking this summer to catch my first cat, just one problem, no idea which water to target. Looking for a water within about an hour of congleton, where i have a good chance of baggin one, not too bothered about size. Any sugestions???

Homefarm in Alsager cats upto about 25 last I heard. Its only a small water so you'll never be too far away from them. I was lucky and had one out on my first trip on there.we weighed it at 13lb on a set of avons...but the photograph looks more like 23lb....still not sure if we weighed that one right It was just mad to get one on the bank as I had never had one before, they go like mad, I thought it was a decent carp

Lakemore is quite near me so i may give there a bash. Which of the two lakes is the easier water, because as i said earlier, i have never targeted cats before. Any info on how to approach the place would be welcomed with open arms.

I've only ever caught one, which fell to a double fusion bottombait,I used a 10" mantis rig with a size 6 korda longshank x hook, but after seeing how abrasive the pads are in their mouths, I'll probably use a kevlar link thats made for the job next time.I've also been told that a few hair rigged halibuts are good for tempting moggies.I hope you catch matey ,the fights unreal

Personally I'd recommend Amnesia for the cats in whichever strain it is around 20lb, always get confused because they arn't in the usual sizes...

see if you can find silt patchs, as cats scoop there food up. as for baits 21 mm plus halibuts over a large bed of pellets.
