Default worthington lakes closed

I have just read on the Carp-talk extra site that Wigan A.A. have given up the fishing rights on Worthington lakes and the lakes have been closed to angling for the moment until somebody new can be found to take up the lease on the fishing rights. This has all been brought about due to carp anglers breaking the rules by night fishing and fishing in out of bounds areas. Wigan A.A. decided it was more trouble than it was worth so have pulled out of the lease.

Shame, that.

Echo's of what some were saying could happen to Poynton.

Not fished there for a few years but night fishing always went on, as for fishing out of bounds think this can only be no.3 reservoir as far as carp are concerned, again has been happening as long as I remember. Haven't night fished it myself though before someone asks

May be a warning for Poynton, not sure, but the sad thing is a lot of the people that used to night fish Worthington weren't members of Wigan AA anyway.

Is it still bailiffed by the EA regularly, if not the night fishing may only get worse without a club keeping an eye on the place.

Yet another good water going down the pan - just like Smith's in Bolton.

Just the mindless few trying to sneak in a few extra hours eh

Rules are rules and those who choose to ignore them ruin it for those who do follow the rules .
It isnt echos of what may happen to PP if those who break the rules dont stop its as inevitable as my wallet getting lighter at both the start of a new fishing season and Christmas

Losing the fishing is as certain as my wallet getting lighter = the absolute certainty of me spending far too much money at both the start of the fishing season and at Christmas

Another problem with this one is that Worthington offers much more to the general coarse angler than it does a carp angler, no.1 has some massive perch, specimen roach and barbel that have been in there years, had one around 8lb years ago. No.3 was a water that attracted specimen roach anglers in Autumn/Winter from a wide area, are some good fish in there.

Does carp angling no favours at all if the reason Wigan AA have given the water up is as suggested and other anglers lose out as a result.

It appears warrington have aquired the fishing rights on these waters. It seems Day tickets will probably be available.

Have heard of multiple carp deaths and quite a few fish looking unwell.
Please can anyone who has been on the water ensure that all mats, nets, slings etc are treated accordingly before use on other waters.
