Sure if... apparently i read somewhere... correct me if i'm wrong.. that if you catch an eel as its organs are just behind its head and you go prodding with a discourger then you can seriously hurt them..... so they said just cut the line as close to the mouth as you can and they will shred the hook is this right...

never liked eels myself

ever since my so called mate whacked me round the head with a dead one once i was well slimed up ill tell ya

had a aversion to them ever since... theres some belters in the canal here its full of em !!!

iv had one they stocked a few BUCKETS full into my local done ask why. But they all seemed to have gone now

In general eel numbers are dwindling, still have a presence on some waters though. Used to get loads of bootlaces in the Ribble, don't know if it's still the same?

Would always unhook them, biggest problem is keeping hold, especially the small bootlaces. Was a 5lb'er this year from a water I've been fishing.

Have seen a few snakes as well in the summer this year.

I'de **** it and run round screaming like a girl if i saw a snake...

Just looked about grass snakes and They hibernate from October to March so i am safe for the time being...
