Snakes aren't slimey they're dry and smooth unless its just been for a swim and slithered in to your bivvy Rainey
Its simple if you see a snake leave it well alone it wont do you any harm
If you catch an eel, cover its head, turn it on its back and stroke the eel along the length of its body with wet hands a couple of times then turn it back the right way,it should calm down and stop wriggling.

Bet,

If I catch an eel -

1. I scream
2. I throw the rods on the floor
3. I touch cloth
4. Tell myself everythings going to be ok
5. Panic
6. Scream again
7. Run away and empty my pants
8. Go and buy some replacement gear
9. Find a new lake
10. Never tell a sole about it

My old man caught one early in the year on the maggot clip, horrible slimey things that they are.

He helped himself to my net to land it and unhooked it on my mat, took me weeks to get rid of the slime

if u see a snake in the wild you should think of yourself as priveledged !..i used to run a captive breeding program of grass snakes to release into the wild.....

managed to release over 80 in 4 years

as for eels ...............till youve had a bigun.....
you dont know what your missing !
awesome fights ! the only fish i know of that can swim backwards !
