I used to fish it regular a few years ago used to fish the weir not far from Wilmslow park road (the private road) used to park just up from the bridge and walk over the field to the weir bit of a treck but not bad as youi ain't lugging loads of carp gear just a Shakespeare box and a holdall + net bag i found using a keep net beneficial as when not using one the released fish must have just ploughed back in to the shoal and spooked em for a bit .Had Roach to a tad under 2lb (1.14 &1.15) Chub to 4 and a half perch about a pound maybe a little more shed loads of gudgeaon and a small common about a pound and what that was doing in there god knows think someone must have released it in there from a garden pond or maybe its the start of some master plan to stock the Wier pool with carp

The best place is definatly the Weir pool off Wilmslow park road. I have been fishing there for a few years and there is all sorts in there. There is even a very very big eel!

The environment Agency did some work on the Weir about a year ago and drained the pool. The biggest was a 5lb chub supposedly but there is talk of a few carp begining to appear now.

if you have ventured into the cars park its self, there is even a large golden orfe to target!

I live very near the weir pool, there is regularly a Bollin Valley Partnerships Land Rover and wardens on the prowl on this length so be warned! There was an attempt a few months back to erect 'no fishing' signs but they keep getting taken down. I get the impression anglers are not welcome here at all and I think they are starting to take it quite seriously. There are good stocks of chub but the big ones are very rare indeed. Lovely little river though.

I agree it is nice, apart from the fact that it stinks!

you Come back and all your gear smells rancid!

i dont no what there problem would be, I would think that the dozens of filthy kids of the estates swimming would have more impact on the river!
