Question TFG Feeder/Tipping Rods

Hi All

Looking at buying a quality avon/tipping rod for some chub fishing this winter. Does anybody have experience with these rods or own one, any reccomendations?

Tried a few places but been able to handle one in any of the tackle shops local, any suggestions?

Cheers, Nige

Depends on the size of river, but I use a Grey's prodigy barbel rod, 12ft 1.5lb test. Get 2 top sections, feeder and normal rod, 3 diferent tips. May sound on the heavy side, but a decent chub when the river is up will really work the rod. h

Got to 2nd the greys prodigy barbel 1.5lb

It's my favorite rod by a distance and will do a host of jobs besides chubbing

I know Harrison Interceptors have a strong following for this type of work..1lb 10oz t/c or the stepped up 1lb 12oz t/c if your likely to encounter any rouge barbel aswell..

I use a 12' Shimano Barbel Power for that sort of work, think it cost £80ish and comes with 4 and 5oz quivertips and a compound top section as well...never had any problems.

if ur on a tight bidget, i use a good old shimano hyperloop medium feeder rod. used loads on the dane and had chub upto 5lb on it no probs. not the greatest rod on the market but it has done me proud over the years and for the price i can't fault it.
