i remember hearing a rumor about something similar on hatchmere years and years ago. only the pike was big enough to eat the duck!

I once had the pleasure of this happening when i was fishing. Infact it was right in front of me when i was about 7 years old, LOL it was strange couldn't quite take it in at the time (no pun intended)

Fished Catch 22 a few yrs back with a mate. Full grown coot swimming in front of me, big swirl and its gone. Talked to the owner who reckoned it was not rare for pike to take full grown birds

was fishing mobberley a few years ago on the alti anglers ticket , i was playing a carp of about 10 lb just got its head up to net it and a pike came up from beneath it n grabbed it lol it was amazing to watch

I remember many years ago, whilst fishing Longton Park bottom lake, my mate's keepnet kept getting nudged. After a few nudges a largish pike pops it's head above the water level and grabs hold of the keepnet with it's jaws and starts to thrash about for what seemed like ages.

It was a fantastic spectacle...even my mate's dog, a usually game little terrier, did some serious backing off.
