Default River Dane Middlewich anglers Byley / Croxton

Haven't fished the Dane for 20 years (how old am I) just wondering if anyone on here has fished there recently and if so what baits etc for the barbel what lb line etc. and is it true that there is carp in there (I only fished Somerford / Swettenham stretches before and only ever had chub, bream, trout and pike) Would be very interesting to catch a big barbel or a carp with my old 7foot Silstar rod. Want to go down there weather permitting Monday or Tuesday, when everyone else is at work..

Get on the Dove if you can, fished the Dane around Byley for a few years and it's not been too good, mainly in the winter. Was polluted last year also but think this was below Byley, was a number of fish lost though.
There are more chub in the Dove and they are bigger on average, also more chance of a barbel.

i did alot on the dane a couple of years back now, on the bay malton stretch by the motorway bridge at the holmes chapel junction. had alot of success on glugged 12mm halibuts. me and my dad took countless barbel up to doubles and had loads of big chub to over 5lb. well worth stayin mobile though, as we had little joy if we stayed in a swim for more than an hour. hope that helps.
