Thumbs up Piking

...It's that time of year again....

Along with my autumn/winter carping I'll be doing a bit of Piking here and there in search of a new PB (as ever), or literally in search of anything decent in Stanley!

What you all up to and where are you going?

20+ in both Redes and Capes as far as I'm aware - but you gotta get through the jacks first!

Some very big crocs in Rudyard ,Knyp pool , and Stanley . Redesmere has some big pike ive had em to 23 that was in about 1998 if i remember rightly.
Try and get on one of the trout reservoirs this winter a lot of them do pike trials in the trout close season Grafham still do a pike trial as do a fair number of other reservoirs simply email the different regional water companies and see what comes back

Never done any Piking lads but i have the utmost respect for the fish.
When i was younger the name Llandegfedd Reservoir

kept cropping up is it still "The Hotspot" for Pike? Just a thought.

....DON'T!!

While the weather is still mild I'd defo get on a floatfished livebait mate off the dam wall, whenever I've tried it never ceases to amaze....

Failing that any decent fresh livebait could work, just stay round the 'Pikey' areas; DAM, Bridge...etc

i saw a few massive swirls last week on the main lake thinking they "may" be Carp, But after a few repeats and a bit of Tailwalkin realised it was the Pike attackin the shoals of fry in the margins!
So me too will be havin a go for em next time!!!
(probably still blank! )

Nail on the head there mate, Live baits all he way.

Preferably small pearch as they are more hardy than the roach and tend to swim round a bit more.
