Default Two hook helicopter rig

Anyone know if you can use two hook rigs on redesmere, such as the two hook helicopter roach/tench rigs they use at Wilstone and Tring? There is nothing I can find in the rules that suggests you can not.

I don't know in all honesty, but I would have thought not.

This same question cropped up last week on anglersnet.co.uk - some guy was asking about any rules that the EA might have for coarse fishing with rod and line with two hooks - he said he'd contacted them and they were not too sure themselves!

I know SOTAS recently banned long shank hooks so I doubt they would condone a 2-hook rig, though I have to say that I've not seen a picture or diagram of the rig in question - how exactly does it work?

Helicopter Roach Rig

Sorry i couldn't work out how to move the diagram. Its on the www.FISHINGmagic.com website. It's no big deal I'm happy with my rigs at present, it was just a thought whilst i look at optimising my method, bites are only averaging one per 6 hour session and I've blanked the last three. Rudyard lake and River Weaver match anglers still fish 2 hook rigs.

I think Iv read sumwhere that they are allowed, but not in matches, don't take my word for it though, just have a good look through your card. Surely you have to look at potential fish damage in this sort of situaion too.

i would of thought that 2 hooks on 1 rod wouldnt be allowed , isnt that the same as avin 2 rigs to one rod wich would also mean 3 rods six rigs and so on. i cant see that being allowed mate.

Someone else about to go off on one about angling ethics!
What's the problem with the rig?
Seen it used, used it myself , never had a problem with it.
What you scared of, catching two fish at once!!
This rig has been used for years and I can never recall it ever double hooking or whatever you think it is going to do.
Makes me want to go out to sainsbury's, buy a carp and sit on the bankat your fav venue and fry it up. Won't eat it though, tastes pretty rough
Keith

the problem lies with the anglers who think it is ethical to put two or more hooklinks (hooks) on to one line , surley fish safty comes foremost!
