This rig was par for the norm 15 years ago, fishing at range in big open waters with no fear of getting snagged up.Those big Bream had no fight in them at all and we never encountered any problems.
Have been out of the scene since then so possibly views and attitudes have changed.

Sorry but you must have misunderstood me,the two hook rig is what was used some time ago for BREAM fishing i never used it for Carp and don't know of any one that did.It was what everyone on the Meres i fished used.As i said earlier hadn't even thought about using it for Carp.

Lets remember how this thread started people. It wasn't ever aimed at carp tactics, and I'm sure Rick never intended to use it for Carp fishing, as did anyone else.

We're aware it was/is used for Bream fishing, lets not all loose the plot and assume people are going to start using the 2 hook heli, semi fixied hinged pop-up rig to fish for carp on the Mere or anywhere else.....

theres an article in Angling Times this week about a big roach haul by someone using a double hook rig. He even won a drennan cup weekly award for it.

Diggerman i think you'll find that the bent hook type set ups people are using these days will be created from curved shrink tube Not bent metal.Result...under pressure no undue strain on the carps mouth. No body in there right mind uses 'proper' bent hooks these days.....do they..
