Default those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer

lookin out the window right now makes me feel like taking up snooker or something...surely it can't rain for the next three days solid. Not put the bivvy up dry in the last three weeks.

Any way thats life...anyone on Redes over the next days fishing for anything but carp?

Trying a different approach this week...possibley ...maggot feeder and further scaled down tackle on one rod....just fish for bites and see what comes along, maples in molasses on the other rod. But as ever flexibility is the essential ingredient.. always a bad idea to commit to a method in advance.....Funny how your drawn to cast a way out on big waters, when i consider an under arm flick into the margins....I just doesn't feel confident about it.

But how many fish are we casting past though?

...and I don't know if the carp guys know just how many carp are working the surface in the early hours at the moment, whilst they are sat behind (or sleeping behind) their rod pods. Just focus your bins on the large number of swans that congregate off the meadow pegs at first light. There were at least six different carp cruising amongst them last Tuesday morning......they seem drawn to the scum of preened feathers that cover the waters surface.

Will report back over next couple of days. Might even set up a surface rig.

Not so keen on the predators....Jules....big stripeys I fancy a go at later in the year.
Had a few upper doubles out of Rudyard the other year ..but find the multiple treble thing a bit unsubtle.

i didn't last winter as the missis was well on with the bump, so i dug out the old float and tip rod on top pool, and did a bit of lure fishing for pike and perch, will probibly do the same this winter, might even give some rivers a go for chub.

Not like the old days, waking up to find your pike baits under 4" of Ice (Springwood). We must have been mad. With just a bottle of homemade Elderberry wine and a can of Royal game soup to keep 3 of us warm all night ..

Barking mad
