Anybody know if sota are still planning to stock cats at astbury, if so when? cheers

I think it’s still the plan, though they are first supplementing the coarse stocks to give the little critters something to chow on. I know a great many thousand silver fish have already been introduced with more to follow.

Was brought up at March meeting. As Julian says, Geoff is trying to increase the amount of prey fish in there so that there are substancial numbers of sustained silverfish before Catfish stocking. The plans are still there it's a matter of time.

Asked Geoff Hayes, Fishery manager this today, and his reply was:
That SOTAS still aim to have the cats intorduced (hopefully this year), but only when there is suffiecient numbers of coarse stocks, and will be done with help and permissions from the EA.

I think these cats are for future planning and will be lost in astbury 4 a while ! such a vast ammount of water ! in 10 years time they will be of substantial size !! big moggys !

Im sure geoff said between 6-8lb ! not sure what the growth rate of them is ? but having said that they will have plenty to chomp on !!
