You think that makes the Mersey clean???
![]() That poor chub is deformed - look at the size of it's dorsal fin. Heaven knows what chemicals did that to it ![]() Mike. Before anyone says anything, yes, I know it's actually a grayling

I'm trying not to think what you've seen in the Mersey drynetter, although I'm guessing they weren't reat trout
![]() I've had some nice Grayling from the Dee on trotted maggots and I'm always spellbound when I catch them. as nice as a scale perfect common or a plated mirror is, they pale into insignificance next to a 'lady'. Plus grayling fight like jiggery and have bony mouths, so it is always a relief to get them in the net! The biggest I had from the Dee was a nudge over 2Ib...... I don't think I quite appreciated at the time just what a special fish that was. Mike.

They're good sport on very light tackle, come the first frosts I may even "target" them. I can feel my toes going numb already! They do look a little like a bone fish, shame they don't go to that size though.

I work with a guy who is a member of The Grayling Society and he isn't appreciative of anglers who take grayling for the pot. Last edited by steve hurst; 20-09-2008 at 01:24 PM. |
