Default Pause for thought

I've not bought a copy of "match fishing" for a good while. I just had a quick flick through the August Edition.

How things have changed, out of 49 shots that show fish, 29 are carp.

Looks like the days of the silver fish are well and truly numbered.

Your thoughts...

Truly a shame, lol

Looks like more and more fish will be coming in training rigs and size 22 hooks!

Seriously, I think it's each to their own - just shows that the lakes on the match scene seem to be getting stocked more so with carp!

Hmmm, you're probably right. Unfortunately.

Comercial waters are heavily stocked with carp and other fish and though many may remain as pasties and be fairly slow growing there will always be a number that out compete their pool mates for the available natural food and any anglers baits which may be fed.Along with whatever the fishery owner may feed them with .

These go getting carp will pack on weight quickly and soon become upper singles and doubles and all to soon bordering on upper doubles 1 or 2 may even become scraper 20s . However they will still be competing with all their smaller relations and we all know that 12 0z bottom line and an upper double carp is a mis-match to say the least .

IMHO many match & pleasure anglers enter into fishing comercial waters some what undergunned

I can't really see many going to a commercial with a 12oz bottom set up on a rig... But stranger things have happened.

Everyone wants the not so "magic ton" of fish nowadays, and to be fair it aint that difficult to achieve on some of these waters.

But if you're fishing these regular, are you really learning anything? Got to admit that some of things that are second nature to the anglers on commercials come in useful sometimes, but its rare you'll see me on one.
