Default Rod Licences...

What's the ruling on how many rods you can have set up on the bank if you've only got 1 licence?

I know you can fish two rods consecutively with 1 licence, but does this allow for having others set up on the bank if you want to switch between methods?

that would be ok,as you would only be actually fishing with 1 or 2 rods

If you had rods set up but non in the water you can still be asked to produce a licence as you would be deemed 'intending to fish'.

But only the most evil bailiff would try to do you in the situation you describe. And it would probably get thrown out of court.

You're probably right, I'm sure there would be an argument for it anyway as match anglers seem to have multiple top threes set up. It's the same thing I suppose???

Evil and bailiff in the same sentence, surely not...

Brings me to another point though, when was the last time you had your licence checked??? It's probably 10+ years ago for me if not longer. On Brereton Heath if you're interested.

Was checked a month or so ago on Fanshawe for the first time.

Doesn't a marker rod count as a 3rd if you're using one while 2 other rods are in the water, remember reading something along these lines but could be wrong

regarding the marker i'd assume that it wasn't as your not actually fishing with it but wouldn't be suprised if soneone tried to do you for it.

I've been checked by the EA, on average, once every couple of years over the last few years. I have no problem with it whatsoever when it occurs - good to see people who don't pay up get caught as far as I am concerned.

As for other rods, almost certainly, you are only deemed to be fishing if you have cast a baited hook in the water. Therefore, you can have as many marker/spod/spare rods set up as you like and you're doing absolutely nothing wrong.

Mike.

Ive had my marker rod checked by a club bailiff not an EA bailiff his words were.
" You are fishing 3 rods"

"No mate its a marker float so i can feed and cast to the same spot every time "

"Lets ave it out you could 'ave a baited hook or a dead bait under that big float that would mean you are fishing 3 rods "

He rambled on about reporting me for fishing 3 rods . Luckily the other one with him who was obviously in posession that morning of the brain cell they shared explained to him what a marker float was and that you could buy 2 rod licences if you wanted .

But he still insisted on checking it

So i reeled it in while doing so all that was going through my mind was .
" i bet i pick up some old hook length or summat off the bottom "
Luckily i didn't

I reckon if they ever ventured out at the weekend near me, they'd make a killing... You could probably count the number of licence holders on one hand. Which is a sad state of affairs when you consider that there are three reservoirs in line.

It'll never happen anyway, the day ticket water has a "sign" stating you "must" hold a licence. Pointless if no-one's going to enforce it I suppose.

May be it's the latest bankside fashion? Especially on Chorlton and Debdale???

Sad state of affairs to be honest.
