Dead right mate.The eel population has declined considerably.I used to catch quite a few a night with the odd good one but it is a lot slower now,hardly any bootlaces to fill in whilst you wait for that specimen.Should put them back really,they go through a hell of a lot for a jump! There are some corkers in Hurleston resser.Cheap ticket to!Good luck and return them if poss. |

Cheers fellas...some great info there.
Apparently the eel population is just 2% of what it was 30 years ago. Japanese eels were imported into Europe for food and they brought with them a virus which started the sad decline. CARP IMPORTERS TAKE NOTE!!! ![]() ![]()

Eels put up with enough. Without us anglers wanting to eat them as well. + the heavy metals thought doesn't count were eels are concerned, eels have the most in their flesh then any other fish due to them buying themselves in the silt all year round. thats why the scientists cut eels up to monitor levels of nearly every thing. |
