four months..sold my reels as i was skint..went back to it when i could afford some new ones.!!!

true but seriously..

I think some would say fishing is like a drug..and you crave for it when your away or another example is a dog without a bone (obviously depending on the dog)

Ditto mate Knocked it on the head for a couple of years when I got a *proper* Mrs if you like, think I was around 17/18. Kept me gear obviously, but lost all enthusiasm as other obvious carnal instincts where takin' over as usual! The flame never went out though and I soon got back into it later on... (Looking back should have just stuck with me fishing, would have saved me a lot of stress, hindsight 'ay!)

Probably the longest I have been without wetting a line for carp in the last 18 years is about 12 months.Had quite a few years though where I have only been a few times.I used to always prebait a swim and fish the opening night on one of my old waters.I used to love that watching the fish and waiting for the big night, no close any more so thats put an end to that.
I have dabbled in other species when fishing was on the doorstep ie living by a river which was nice.
So after all the waffle 12 months for me, always done a bit in between all the daft things you do when you're in your teens and early 20's...lol..

Nearly 18 years......In that time I was dating future wife, then having 3 children.Luckily kept all my stuff and only started back again because my eldest son asked me to start taking him after I showed him pictures of my captures.Glad he did though as I am well and truly hooked again although things have changed a lot,and some not for the good.(But won't start on about that here....!)

Have fished all of my life, not always for carp and still not always for carp.

Whatever has gone on, marriage, work, kids, playing football for years, etc, always managed to fish around it and fit angling into my life, never tried to fit my life into angling

Still enjoying marriage, still working, same kids though now young adults, still playing 5-a-side (at 45 ), and still fishing

Still enjoying all of it
