sounds a good idea just curious though dont you think it may make the forums as they are now redundant ? and slow down the amount of new members joining as if they see a quiet forum they may not get involved ?

No, doubt it very much. Just the opposite in fact.

The new forum is just a little bit extra on the side and won't detract from the normal forum. The monies raised will be going towards improvements on the site as a whole anyway, like the addition of blogs and member galleries on the existing forum, all of which will only increase the amount of new members signing up each week.

As for 'them and us', doubt that too. Have been involved in the same kind of thing on other forums and it's worked very well, all in all it's just a way for people to give a little back if they wish - but hey, nobody's being forced.
