Default In trouble with E.A

iv got a mate wh was caught on teggs nose using 3 rods but only had a rod licence for two.

The E.A caught him and have taken all his details and he has recieved a summonds, just out of interest, what do you think will happen to him?

I wasnt really sure how to reassure him, apart from the fact that hes been caught red handed!

he wil almost definately get the standard fine if he pleads guilty by post the fine is normaly between £200 and £300 pound i know two people that got done for the same thing one in 2004 and one in 2007 if he goes to court it will be court costs plus a bigger fine he has been caught red handed so theres no way out of it.

Save £25, and get fined £300? Not the brightest light in the harbour. Sorry guy, no sympathy here.

I reckon you're way out there mate...200-300 nicker...

Bearing in mind that he has at least paid for one licence, and he makes the magistrate aware of that fact in a nice letter, then I reckon £50-£100 max.

HA!

I accidentally ordered 3 rod licenses off the internet last year as my connection crashed during the order!

So I insisted on sneaking a few cheaky 'margin rods' out last season!

He who dares rodders!

That's like saying your car will do 140mph and you were only doing 110mph

You pay your money and take the chance, no sympathy for the guy especially fishing what I think is a country park, not the brightest thing to do

spot on there they dont like people trying to worm there way out if its writen in black and white they should of read it before going fishing like you are suposed to with any type of licence
you wouldnt jump into a HGV after passing your car driving test without reading your licence to see what you could drive.

Agree. My mate got done a couple of years ago. He was told to immediately go and buy a second license, photo copy it, and send it off with a grovelling letter saying you'll be a good boy for ever and ever etc, end result, my buddy got let off and told to buy two licenses in the future.

I don't condone not buying enough licenses buy the way, I always buy two if I'm fishing three rods, but this is me simply passing on previous examples of people who decided to risk fishing 3 rods and only buying one license. I whole heartedly agree that if you break the rules and get caught, you got know one to blame but yourself because it's all there in black and white.

Nearly all the fines that I see in the angling press are less than £100 and that is usually for having no licence at all.

I'm not defending the small fine but that's what you can expect. So if a carp angler who needs two licences to cover three rods has to spend £50 you can understand why some don't even bother. Statistically (risk versus reward) it is worth taking the risk, especially if you fish quiet waters off the beaten track.

One thing that winds me up as a car owner with an annual insurance premium of £350 is paltry fines handed out to the people who drive with no insurance. Look at the court files in the Sentinel or other local rags. Nine times out of ten it is less than the £350 that I pay.

Like a lot of our laws there is no deterrent because penalties are too soft.

Whilst we're on the subject why do the EA only sell licences in blocks of two?
Call me cynical but it sounds like a bit of a money making exercise to me...
