Default Re: New Products and Baits being field tested(Ssshhh)

I was wondering if new products that are being field tested are meant to be kept hush hush until theyve gone on general sale or do you have the freedom to talk about the bait or product your trialing on etc..???

I noticed Iain talking quite openly about the new Korda line he's been testing there was no secret squirrel stuff there...

Do people tests rods that have no graphics or can they turn round for example and say yeah this is a new Century rod etc etc

My pal is testing two new baits for Mistral which are the business..are we allowed to talk about the new baits that are not for open sale....

Yeah one for debate If he for example walked onto Conningbrook caught Two tone is he allowed to post his capture naming the new bait or would he have to say it was a new bait he was testing.??? Im sure the bait company would want it naming after that capture but in reality...how does it work

1 fish irrespective of whether its a known fish or not would'nt matter in the testing period surely ? its more about regularly catching but i guess they would mention it was caught on a new bait there testing but then say its early days yet but once its being released then these fish catches will be mentioned to create a hype

i think you will find that most bait companies will not allow their field testers to publish said new bait in the carp comics until its time for release, what you will find is closer to the release date one or two snippets of info i.e. a full page advert with 6 or 7 fish caught on the new bait and the release date of XX/XX/XXXX

that is unless the bait company make no bones about the fact they got a new bait coming out that is (and i will coin a phrase "tearing up the country due to extensive fieldtesting" for all you know the next bloke along in the field might be using a new bait but saying that its an old one... food for thought

Yes as if its been given to people to test it will of been patented etc.

Bait and tackle, are great ones for word of mouth sales so all the better to talk about a new bait as it builds hype. Mainline are particulaly good at that. By giving there ''fieldtesters' relatively cheap bait they get thousands in advertising free as most of the time people like to talk about there deals

"it will of been patented etc"

Patented??? not a chance in carp bait terms... there are limited ingredients in use and every combination has been used... some (or rather most) 10+ years ago....

Did ol' Two Tone not come out on a piece of magic plastic corn at some point in history? If it'll pick up a piece of rubber to see if its worth swallowing I'm sure ANY bait stands half a chance irrespective of the company who roll it,after all fish don't read mags and forum posts....

It was certainly caught on some sort of corn / maize bait, not sure if it was real, or, fake. I think it was caught by Lee Jackson.
