Default No bobbins

Does anybody on here use the shocker rig? Abit like a running rig, but with an inline lead and bead about 6 inches down the tubing/ leadcore?

The only reason im asking is that I have read you do not use bobbins for this and was wondering if this was correct?

Cheers,

Cheers,
I guess because the idea is to "shock" the fish into running, every take should be a screamer (in theory) so no need for bobbins, boll ox to that get bobbins on just in case there are always fish that do the opposite to the expected.

i use a running lead not an inline ? if you use an inline if the lead does'nt come away from the swivel how will the shock come into it also by using a running lead you will not need backdrops
unless you remove the swivel but you may as well use a running lead then

Junkie old chap one can use an inline "free running" so to speak,BY
A....putting a bead between the hooklink swivel and lead, always assuming you have removed any form of inner liner from said lead and
B...to create the shock effect,ie ***** the fish, a rubber bead(sometimes called a slammer) is placed behind the lead at a distance one see,s fit....
these type of rigs are usually set up on a leader of some kind,ie leadcore or one of the many commercial leaders that appear to be in vogue at the moment...and obviously any type of"slammer" must be able to come away in the event of the set up being lost
by the way most so called free running rigs arnt, unless of course a heavy lead is used ie 3 to4oz upwards

Oops sorry mate, didnt mean too teach you to suck eggs, but the so called slammer does add another dimension to it,but like most "inovations",its nothing new,and for the record i prefer running

i use a running 3 oz lead on leadcore with a bit of silicone tubing over it with a bead just under 3ft from the hooklink to create the shocker it also can help to stop the fish using the lead to unhook itself but i prefer to use light bobbins than none more for confidence really and a visual thing
