Floater fishing is an art form in itself....its definitely a good way of saving a blank but NOT the easy way out....to me buzzer fishing is much easier...and the best thing about floater fishing is most people don't even try it I love it. Carp love floaters and a few hours spent on the floaters is always well worth it you just need to get the baiting and presentation spot on...its a whole different ball game to buzzer fishing...which you still have to get right but with floaters you can see whats going on which makes it even better...unless you are fishing a gin clear margin spot

some cracking answers here!!
Strengths: I think that I am very quick to react to changing conditions, showing fish, the need to change things around a bit. I always like to force the issue whereever possible but i'm not afraid to wait untill the absolute optimum time to fish/cast/bait up. An example was a lake i fished last year, wasn't an easy water but with commonsense you could do very well, the fish were early morning feeders and never got caught at night for some reason, so i would turn up at the water in the evening, set the bivvy up etc and keep the rods on the bank till 4am, it just avoided fish spooking of lines or leads etc in the night, i would creep up and place the baits in the dark still just before it gets light and this subtle approach made all the difference. Weaknesses: I sometimes over complicate things a little, worry about perfectly good rigs and scrutinise some things a bit too much. Afterall, a mate of mine used to use the green and yellow insulation off wires before proper rig tubing was mass produced!! It's more a case of get the fish feeding and they will become catchable, if they ain't feeding then no amount of rig tweeking or changing will buy you a run Last edited by LeAtHeR CaRp; 20-05-2006 at 10:09 AM. |
