Only when you've watched someone spod to a marker in excess of 150yds do you realise you ain't no caster.

I think you better join me when I go for some casting lessons . .

Cant remember the last carp i had off the surface so id have to say thats a weakness, ive had the odd bash on hot days when the carp are on top but cant buy a take. i suppose i need to persevere for longer?

Last surface fishing i did was on compstall a long time ago and it was easy then but since progressing onto slightly harder waters they wont have it. Need to refine the surface rigs and tactics clearly.

id also like to have a run on a proper zig rig to prove i can catch on this method, never have.

Not sure what my strengths are......enjoying it.....

Well said Nige. That in it's self is something a lot of anglers dismiss.

You can normally tell a complete t**t on the bank just by listening or watching them.

Example. I was on a certain water a couple of weeks ago. Someone turned up with his partner and a mate and two dogs. From the off the bloody dogs were 'yappin' all evening, then when a dog went astray, a 'GET HERE' followed which emanated across the bay! Then a fire was lit, jeeeeeeeeeeez, is it just me or what

I try and keep as low profile as possible, and not draw attention to myself. As Nige says, 'bankside etiquette' is something that also needs to be understood and learned.

it could be your skills are'nt as homed at floater fishing as thay are bottom fishing.you said floater fishing is your weakness but then say it's an easy way out of a blank

ROFLMAO

hahahaha a well know carp angler i used to know used to spod in the dark (something i have never done myself) this make you all chuckle,

after a few drinks, he was doing his usual spodding in the dark for about 35mins, woke up to find a nice pile of bait on an island hahahahaha over shooting his spod by a good 10yards ! due to the drink he wasnt actually looking out for the splash just the thud of the spod hitting something

i am not naming him so dont even pm me ! this angler though has made another classic school boy error but not to do with spodding
