My weaknesses lie in long range fishing... i dont do it too often and therefore when i NEED to , i find im out of practice.
I would have said floater fishing too but ive learnt loads on this subject in the last couple of weeks and have really turned things round with a couple of adaptations.

My strengths lie in watercraft , reading weather+fishing situations , being prepared to move swims or even venues at the drop of a hat if i feel im not in the right place. Many(most?) of my best fish from UK + abroad have come as a result of these factors

personally yeah but these are my own views on it tho if you like fishing for surface feeding carp thats your choice.now dont get me wrong yeah i do occasionally put a pop up out but i aint gotta have a bag of dog biscuits in the bag at all times just in case i see a fish near the surface.

What if you caught your next PB off the surface, would you class it as your 'overall' PB or your surface caught PB?

Say for instance you were at another lake though and you caught a PB off the surface, how would you class it? PB or.........

Does it matter what method you catch it by?

If its the biggest one you've caught its your PB!!

WEAKNESSES
Some would say my long range casting, as few people seem to class 60yds as extreme range!!!!

By and large I’ve found that people who aren’t that good at a particular method are often the first to dismiss it, for whatever reason. Hooking and landing carp off the surface can be just as difficult and demanding on a proper carp water as fishing off the bottom.

I’ve lost count of big carp waters where the regulars claim that the big fish don’t have it off the top – it’s crap – of course they do – it’s just that nobody’s managed to do it, and so far from being easy it ends up being quite the opposite!

That’s not a dig at you Andy, just an observation in general, and to be honest, I used to have the same attitude to fishing off the top myself. But try catching a few biggies off the top in January - far from an easy way out of a blank!

Far from the easy way out of a blank anytime julian, fishing off the top is an artform in itself and one I still have to master

Very interesting topic this one.

For me I feel that I have heaps to learn, both actaul fishing things, and also experiences. I'm not saying that I know nothing, I feel that the key things that I do know and understand are bankside etiquette and general basic angling skills for many species. I feel that over the last five years or so my carp angling ability has progressed intensely, yet I have much more to learn.

I think that it is too easy to ignore things that in truth, we are not the best at. At heart there are many aspects of my fishing that I intend to greatly improve, and I think that I will always learn/gain something from fishing, each and every time I go.

...soppy stuff over now..lol
