Default Ice Watch

Be useful during the cold snap and through the winter if anglers posted reports on which lakes had a lid of ice on. I suspect after the last few days and last night in particular which was very cold one or two will be solid now.

The last local lake i saw was 50/50 ice and water that was friday morning.

I drove a 200 mile round trip on saturday morning as the lake was solid. was determined not to waste the trip, so got the boat out, rocked it about for an hour and broke a wide strip up the centre of the lake, filled it in with bait and came home, should last em a while till it thaws.

went for a walk with the kids round compstall and the back water is frozen and the main lake has started to freeze.

Dont get any food out within 100yds of any ducks because they will attack on sight had about 200 of the buggers follow us round the lake

Had to call off a session myself at the weekend as it was frozen over - gutted.

Not been as cold last two nights, just below zero as a pose to -4, and with fog present during the day, hoping they will be fishable very soon, if not already as the wind's picked up too - best way to get rid of the ice

For info, drove to macc yesterday and the canal running alongside the fools nook was mainly free of ice with just a tiny bit of cat ice here and there, most of which was gone by the time I came back past in the early afternoon.
