As much as it pains me to get this surreal thread back on course (and I shall probably receive a lambasting from Ollie for interrupting his flowing prose) does anyone know what the ice situation is like on Redesmere and/or Astbury at the moment? I'm itching to go piking some time soon.

Cheers,

Mike.

Went to Redesmere today (and blanked). LOTS of ice there now. Most of the lake completely frozen over with only a handful of pegs fishable (a couple on the floating island and the stream peg).

The ice retreated through today as the sun warmed things up, but given the number of gritters I saw on the way home I'm guessing there will be more ice tomorrow.

Mike.
