Been no frost overnight in Tameside, a mild +3! You should be ok to fish half the lake.

Left Poynton at 6pm tonight was a thin sheet of ice covering the main body of the lake (it was mad watching it slowly freeze over!) and the shallows looked completly frozen.

just a quick question? if someone goes to a lake intending to fish knowing it is going to freeze that night, is that not bad angling cause how are you going to play and land a fish through an inch of ice at 3am? how is your baitrunner going to work with your line frozen in the water?

eh? I left at 6 and where I was fishing it was still slowly freezing, it wasn't freezing as it would in antarctica 5 inches at a time, it was about 0.5mm thick if that........

I've always found pva bags full of piping hot water kept in a thermos are really effective for short winter day sessions when the waters starting to freeze. Not too much mind, just a micro bag with a fluoro pop up...
