When are people gonna learn about these mickey mouse here one day gone the next fishing 'shows' that punt out bankrupt stock/last years tat at not much cheaper than shop prices with no warranty or return policy. Pay your six quid to get in,look with dismay at the *****e on offer and then buy something to justify paying to get in to begin with...

Do yourself a favour, avoid. Support your local shop instead and give something back to the poor sods who have to sit behind a quiet till for months on end during winter cos when they've gone t1ts up due to lack of support its the first thing you'll notice when you need a few miniscule bits n bobs that aint worth the faffing about on ebay for.

The only place most people can get their grubby mits on the new toys that get released is tackle shops, don't treat them like museums by looking then buying from some elf with a unit punting stuff out for pittance online-they won't offer you advice on your local water or show you how to tie a shockleader knot/tricky rig.Sure you can read it in Total Carp or whatever but its not the same reading it as being shown is it now....

And as far as I'm aware nobody does maggots mail order...

You're welcome on the helpful advice Mr nose, hope you find that ultimate carp kit at the show, and that it all falls apart in a month leaving your mate put off angling for life cos his kits all fallen to bits, probably.

The truth hurts as they say. No doubt you'll be one of those stood in the nearest tackle shop to said venue two hours later moaning about 'how *****e it was,4k all worth buying, blah blah blah' crying on the shoulder of said shop owner, who really probably is thinking 'shut up you bollockbubble you should know better'....

If you can't get a half decent set up for half decent money at said shop then its not worth shopping at IMO,theres so many pot noodle carp set ups(ie instant carper just add water) knocking about from tackle suppliers at the moment then any shop that can't provide you with such a set up doesn't deserve the title of tackle shop.

I've seen basic essential carp kits for under a ton which provide adequate carp care as well as rods reels n buzzers.I've also seen some utter trash set ups by a so called yorkshire republic chain store which is frankly disgusting, substituting carp line for luminous 25lb sea line, carp nets for match fishing nets and handles and an unhooking mat that would be better with the queens head on and stuck to an envelope-avoid this crap at all costs as it is seriously inadequate.

To finalise,if you are trying to get someone into carp fishing on a budget then fine,I fully appreciate your interest in these one off shows. My advise was brushed off with sarcasm,no prob, sarcasm's my best buddy (after chardonney )

But if you're gonna try carp fishing on the cheap n nasty by buying inferior rubbish for £69.99 'complete', which will clearly be of detriment to fish welfare, then book in for a reality check-kits of this price clearly won't cut the mustard-do everyone a favour-save up another couple of weeks and buy something quality...

And before anyone starts the typical response,I'm not suggesting you need thousands of pounds worth of shiny gear to go carp fishing, merely that a modicum of commitment with sensible gear would be a good start in anyones carp fishing career, its all a bit too easy nowadays to go carp angling-but far easier to go out unprepared and cause damage due to insufficient gear/education.

Maybe you should point me in the direction of an 'essential' carp kit which i can chuck in the direction of my mate then please? I am only varying my options, my initial question was "is it worth going?" as i have never been to such a show.

I quote you "When are people gonna learn about these mickey mouse here one day gone the next fishing 'shows' that punt out bankrupt stock/last years tat at not much cheaper than shop prices with no warranty or return policy. Pay your six quid to get in,look with dismay at the *****e on offer and then buy something to justify paying to get in to begin with..."

If you'd of worded the reply a bit differently then maybe i wouldnt of given a sarcastic answer, you call me a brownnose yet you feel you have to give a sarcastic answer to each and every single post which you come across on the forum which imo makes you either very insecure or a bit of an attention seeker well the first is probable as you did mention that chardonnay is your best friend

Its replies like your first which make people feel uneasy to ask in the first place, a simple "its not worth going as its mostly kack" would probably have been an adequate response.

No harm in having a look at all, just seems a waste of entrance fee which could be put towards something more useful...and given that I've seen more of these so called 'shows' come n go than you've had under cover shuffles, with the majority (ooh at least 85%) result in the same verdict from many unlucky visitors I'd say that makes it sound advice and not as you put it a 'stupid sarcy pointless post'...

By the way congratulations on finally having a fully functional keyboard on your pc,the amount of stpd txt tlk in some of yr prevs repls had me a tad concerned that the keyboard fairies had taken an exceptional liking to the vowels on your computer....

Blue,

My apologies at the brownose pop, agree it was childish and had already edited before your reply.Do forgive me.

Re the reply-I could have just put yeah they're cack but similar posts have been made time and time again with the same answers-thought I'd construe it a little differently to make the forum somewhat more spicy...ooooh!

Ok just for you kidda-Blue...don't bother going mate, these shows are really pants. They have very little of the way in true bargains and use the entrance fee as a quick buck making scheme. You could get a kilo of bait for what some charge to enter.Don't do it!

Seriously though,PM me your budget and what you want and I will genuinly point you towards what are IMO some decent set ups.Just don't tell everyone ok

Oh and the Chardonney thing,shhhhhh.....its just a JOKE! I'm not REALLY a dead lush actor, its just a pseudonym
