(Sorry Man City Quote's Gone Pete tong)
I think you would have to do the weighing.!!!

There's always going to be hurdles..but can you imagine the idea on a larger scale 'North V South' or 'Carp Forum against Carp' Forum'. Im sure that would have some tails wagging.

What about an individuals match on NM on a runs water instead of a club v club thing?

Somewhere with plenty of carp and we could team up in 2's as teams? that would be awesome

Thats mainly the problem, it's finding a suitable water that will accommodate such an event.

A day ticket runs water, shouldnt be too hard to find.....should it?

Or even possibly a match arranged at a club where special permission would have to be arranged?

Club comp's will be easier to stage as your representing the club.!! Nothing to stop the forum pre-booking a day ticket water though.!!

What do you think Julian.?? The Northern Monkeys Cup

It would be awesome.

Maybe charge members for the tickets and a little extra for the site fees?

You’d be better off finding a day ticket water I reckon if you wanted to do a pairs match. As for inter-club matches, you would need to bring it up at your various club meetings to see how they stand.

I know a number of clubs have it in their rules or constitutions that their waters can’t be hired out, etc. I seem to recall that SOTAS used to allow non-members to fish some of their matches, but as is usually the case, a few ruin it for the rest, and I think this was stopped after trouble with non-members on a Bolesworth Match.

There’s also public liability, which I know puts a lot of clubs off such events – not to mention the fact that if it was club based, and they were to allow it, somebody would have to act as guarantor for all those taking part!

I did look at arranging a fundraiser last year, but in the end it was more trouble than it was worth. The lakes that were capable of taking big numbers wanted so much per head to do it, even for just 24 hrs, that it simply was not feasible.

However, it is something I want to do and I've not given up on it. After having Violet the other week it again made me realise just how good the team are at Macc Hospital in the maternity ward. There are times when you put yourself completely in the hands of others and their duty of care was outstanding on both occasions. Things got a little scary towards the end when Izaak came along, but it was nothing compared to what I know a lot of families have to go through in Macc's special baby care unit, and as such, I'd like to show my appreciation for the care and dedication we received by trying to give something back.

Macclesfield Hospital provides both high dependency and special care for almost 200 babies each year, many of which rely on incubators; used to provide care for babies who are born early or are very small, have life-threatening conditions affecting their breathing, heart and circulation, or are awaiting or recovering from complex surgery. One of these incubators costs about £2,500 – and I reckon that would be a realistic target to achieve in time - and an awesome thing to say we had donated as a group of anglers!

Anyway, I've potentially found a water that could hold enough anglers and hope to arrange talks with the owners very soon with a view to doing something in 2008.

The key is in getting the venue to vastly reduce its fees or even better, to offer it up for nothing, as this could really beef up the amount we could raise. It’s a long and complex road but there could also be a number of PR benefits to a water that wanted to get involved in a big way.

Anyway, the pairs aspect is something I’d not thought off, and it could bring an added interest to such an event – deffo food for thought!
