Default Bad Products or products you dont like

Right we all have our problems with certain carp fishing products

What problems do you have with certain products and why? ?

Certain things that may be bad for one may be good for another but heres afew that annoy me

Mine has got to be the hangers with the metal ball type line clips
"I have lost two bloody carp through getting caught on the ball on a take and snapping on the strike"

Fox ready made leadcore safety rigs
"The lead allways falls out on the cast"

Beanie unhooking mats (only certain types) but they never bloody dry and allways stink the house out

Cant think of anymore at the moment

Any thoughts or products you guys / gals dont like???

Exclamation 'renaming thread who hates fox thread'!

LOL I think a lot of top brand carp products are really sub standard,
solar pee's me off how you have to buy everything individually and even a hanger set costs a bomb but it is great quality
certain so called anti ladder pva micro mesh pee's me off when you are putting it on the funnel and all it does is a constant 5 metre ladder

Its funny really becouse many of the things that have been mensioned are used so much by many anglers

Such as the mensioned armalead kickback i love the stuff and if steamed it can make a cracking rig.

Raptor T6's are also one of my personal choices in many situations

Some love items / some hate them

This is why there is such a massive market in carp fishing and there allways will be theres no item anyone will 100% swear by.

Or is there . . .

Danny Fairbrass would certainly try and say there is

The only significant items of tackle I've owned that is Fox was my first ever proper bedchair and a set of alarms, and they lasted me years, BUT, it's been a few years since I owned them!

Never really have much trouble with my gear, the only thing I would advise new comers to carping (Rainey) is don't go for the cheapest stuff. I've lost count of the amount of cheap landing nets I've bought over the years because I couldn't justify spending £60 - £70 on a decent one. Then I saw sense and got a decent one and it's 100% strong, reliable etc. The main problem was the spreader blocks, cheap nasty ones simply don't last!

I remember having trouble with a Nash Titan bivvy leaking due to the seams. The tape kept falling off, but again, that was years ago so I think things 'may' have improved! I've not had any trouble with my Nash Oval Extreme brolley - yet!

Never had trouble with reels, I've owned Shimano Baitruners and I now have Daiwa Emblems, never let me down. Rods, no trouble, I've got a set of Nash Extreme Pursuits, love 'em.

I don't know if it's down to some people not looking after their gear quite as well as the should sometimes, I think I treat my gear quite well, I always dry my gear out, keep things clean, clean grit out from reels two or three times a year, keep rod rings clean, am careful when loading up into the car etc, my mate on the other hand is totally opposite, literally throws his gear into his car, leaves leads on his rods whilst in their rod slings so the lead clangs of his rods, doesn't dry his bivvy out so it stinks, so a bit of TLC I'm sure helps prolong your gear.

Of course, TLC doesn't help when it's down to faulty workmanship with tackle, which essentially what this thread is about I suppose, just thought I'd add my opinion anyway

I haven't got all fancy gear got some good stuff and some average stuff... cheers for the tips blue...

i remember when i got my gear and they threw in some ready made hair rigs... the line wasn't line it was nylon and looked like a bent pin for a hook... appailing so i chicked them straight out would do the fish more harm than good!

Anything off ebay!

its never quite right, either slightly damaged, imperfect, or will beak down very shortly after purchase.

IMO stick with Staperly or Fosters of Birmingham!
