don`t know why you`ve got on your soap box with me mate i answered your question and agreed with deano that we`ve all got to start somewhere.as for the three anglers in question they have well over a 100 years angling experience between them and caught some serious fish.maybe there comments were a bit harsh buts that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid.

that being the case then, would it not have been better to help Ginge out rather than having a go

How could this be considered a little harsh....It's not the nature of the beast its completely out of order..... Yes the question may have seemed obvious to some but better safe than sorry...... He could have made the choice without asking the question and cracked of and cost a carp its life......At least he asked calling him a

KNO*HEAD

didnt help him with his query just wound him up and possibly stopped someone from asking a question on a topic that may compromise a fishes safety......If you want to help then help........That helped no one

We all start somewhere and its very easy for a angler of 42 years to get on his high horse

I think your best bet would be to ask in your local tackle shop ( if you don't know anyone on the bank ) to show you how to try a leader knot. It is so important that you get it right ... don't be afriad to ask.

How to tie The leader knot, form a granny knot in the leader, pass the mainline through enough to wrap around leader 8 times once you have done this wrap it back up 4 times and back through the loop at the knot, moisten and pull tight cut the tags and blob with lighter. Look in back of total carp for illustration hope this helps ginge. Andy

Well done andy for giving some advice to ginge.

I have read all the posts, both negative and positive, and it makes me sad to think that for asking a question, whether the so called experienced/seasoned anglers amongst the forum think - 'oh, it's that an obvious question to ask', Ginge received the initial responses that he did.

Well done for asking in the first place, and if other anglers coming into the sport/gaining experience, did the same, then maybe their wouldn't be so many noddy's about.

I hope this experience hasn't put you off asking questions in the future.
