Default wacking a lead to the horizon

allright
at the moment am just using just about a 3foot off leadcore with a leadclip with a 2 1/2oz tornament lead and my rig to cast a say around 70 80 yards but a could do with maybe hitting 100yards maybe ano its all about tecnique and learning to blast it that far but its there anythin that would improve the terminal tackle like the size off the lead using a shockleader???

while fishing the lake a lad was sayin he finds casting better with an inline lead system??? but the lake it fairly siltity and that could drag the rig into the silt if dont feather it down and it only really shallow all over the lake as well

o yeah and 12lb krystonite mainline on my reals

what am looking for it advice on the pros and cons off using differant lead systems shockleads etc not just use this system this way a wont really learn jack **** like that will a!!

thanks for any advice
thanks ginge

when i used to fish trentham yrs ago, i used the silt rig....i think they call it a chod rig now..very similar to the helicopter rig...i was achieving good distances, tho i reduced my mainlin to 8lb and had a 40 lb shock leader..oh and was usin very short hooklinks to prevent drag/tangles amongst other things

the rig keffus is talking about mate is simply a helicopter with the top bead up the leader/tubing.You can use a bottom bait no problems. Its just called a chod when used with a short stiff link and a pop up...

so if fishing a pop up on that rig it would be put up the leader to say how deep the silt it then it getting distance and the hookbait it defo not goin in silt???
ano that bight flouro pop-ups work as well maybe need to ask you guys about a pop-up rig as i have never fishing a water where pop-ups are as effective as bootem baits or plastic corn ad say that it was just the same maybe some srinktube on the shank to create a cruve???

with the chod mate dont use any tubing just use a proper chod rig hook like the drennan boilie hooks or esp stiff riggers.Tie with a normal knotless set up and put a rig ring on the tag end push back through the eye and blob with a lighter. You need a biggish hook to allow this to happen as the stiff hooklink(amnesia or bristle filament) is pretty thick. I use size 4 boilie hooks and size 5 stiff riggers....

Default Big hooks

you need the hook to have an eye large enough to tie the rig up mate.It probably also helps to aid the hooking potential of the rig.TBH i have only just started to catch on the chod rig but it does give good hookholds.Just give it a try mate...

i dont know if u remember deano when fishin trentham... first cast i used to tye white wool on the lead and up the line, to measure the depth of silt(it would stain it) well so i believed any way..then set my hooklink accordingly...god my old dutch would go ballistic when it came to knittin baby clothes and it was gone lol...
