Default Northern Monkeys or Brass Monkeys

Got up bright and early this morning for day at Littledale, a slight frost on the ground so wrapped up warm, filled the flask and set off. However, it became apparent after 4 hours or so that I didn't wrap up warm enough

I've always used the same fleece, waterproofs and multiple layers underneath and never had a problem before but for some reason I just couldn't get warm today.

How do you keep warm, any little tricks to keep the feeling in your feet?

skee tex field boots very warm (not as warm as the wellies) and easy to walk in. I find if I have cold feet you really can not warm up

Bought a Sundridge sleepskin suit last year, thermal bottoms and hooded top. Works really well and has kept me warm day and night, is on offer now with a fleece top also.

On night sessions in the winter, you can’t beet a hot water bottle in your sleeping bag! Other than that, lots of thin layers will keep you warmer than a couple of thick layers.

The SkeeTex boots seem to be popular, may have to check them out, and perhaps look at a little gas stove type thing. You never know, the weather may actually start to get warmer before long and it'll be shorts, t-shirts and insect repelent!!!

You can wear alsorts of clothes and 50 pairs of socks but the cold still gets through! The best thing is to go for a quick walk! If its a small lake, do a lap. Gets the blood flowing and some heat back! Works for me anyway.

Thats why you might have seen me power walking to the toilet at capes!!!

Thermals and thinner layers under one or two fleeces For really cold weather I have a pair of deerhunter padded trousers with a high back they keep all the chills at bay, wear a good pair of socks(walking type),fleece beanie for your noggin, neck gators are great, insulated boots,I have been known to take a summer bag to put inside my 5 season and I always take a hot water bottle. When you're out on a long winter session the last thing you want to be is cold,I know the extra bits can be a pain to carry but its well worth it when you're all toasty n warmKeep as active as possible and you should be A OK.
Or you could try these snazzy go go gadget socks

For me its thermal long johns and tshirt from asda (very cheap )
couple of tshirts, a sweatstyle tracksuit, then water proofs.
If you get cold eat something, its a very good way of getting your body temp back up.
