Default short evening sessions

im planning on doing a good few short sessions after work this year
would you take only one rod or go for two ?
im guilty of taking everything but the kitchen sink when i go fishing but id like to trim my stuff right down when i go for a few hours of an evening
what would you take ?

When you dont drive like me Russ...you become a master at short evening seshes with minimal gear...lol...but i have to stick to local waters..
1 rod 2 3/4 test or lighter
1 net and pole
1 rod rest
1 very small rucksack containing...a camera, weigh sling, scales, tackle box with everthing in leads, rigs, hooks, controllers etc(everything you would need for all types of fishing)

small unhooking mat...big enough for a 20

Bait...1 pound of boilies, 1kg sweetcorn and a pound of mixers...job done

You can walk around all night long checking a few baited spots and firing the odd pouch of mixers out..

I still take the kitchen sink on a sesh though...

Lol at Deano – a man after my own heart!

I would do exactly the same. On short sessions I find you get too tied down with two rods, but much would depend on the water. If I know there will be plenty of free swims, then I would stalk as Deano suggests either fishing off the top or scattering a bit of particle into a number of margin spots whilst walking round till you spot a lump. However, if it’s a water that gets busy, i.e. you may be limited to one swim, them I would consider using two rods.

I take a 9ft stalking rod ready for surface fishing in this weather. A V.small rucksack with biccies, bread, and some bottom baits, camera, weigh sling, scales, unhooking mat, and a very small amount of terminal tackle in it. Oh and of course some polarized gigs. Everything else is in my pockets. Mind you I walk about 8-10 miles on my evening sesh's so the kitchen sink would'nt be appropriate.

the good thing about evenings are that you are normally in a feeding zone so take the basics a good tip is try taking a tiny bit of bait so you only use what you need its hard at first but i caught more using less and fish two rods as if i was stalking if you know what i mean the best bit about short sessions is you fish bob on as time is shortand you have not time to dilly dally
hope this helps
