i use the mahin knot for all my leaders..

simply tie an overhand knot in your leader material then pass your mailine through the loop before you tighten it up and whip up the leader 7 times with your mainline then come back down and whip 4 more turns over the whipping going up your leader, pass the end of the mainline back through the loop then tighten the over hand knot down onto the leader, moisten everything them tighten everying up.
sounds pretty complicated after reading that but its really quite easy and very reliable

well that depends on the rig you decide to use.

i simply use a running lead on a run ring and attach my rig to the leader via a swivel,i never use tubing as the increased diametre of the leader eliminates tangles anyway.

if you decide you wanna use a helicopter rig make sure all the beads will pass over the leader knot.

used to do it that way myself mate, but after trying to get the knot smaller i found 7 up and 4 down is just as strong and a lot neater.(try it)

i think 10 up and 6 down was a knot beachcasters use, when using mono's of a lot thicker diametre

I also use the Mahin knot with either quicksilver or tapered leaders depending on the fishing situation, never had this knot fail and gives you loads of confidence to make that lead have it!
