Fishing Injuries
After going fishing for a night on sunday my shoulder is still clicking and i cant move my arm much because im getting a sharp pain. This is due to throwing a couple of kilo of boilies out one by one every few hours.
So i decided to make a thread.
Whats your worst fishing related injuries or what are the most common fishing related injuries you have come across?

You may want to invest in a bit of saftey management, a "CATAPULT"...
Many, many moons ago I was teaching my son the finer arts of tying a hook on a trace for a sea fishing session the following day...For the life of me I can,t think why I done it....To close the knot up I gripped the tag-end with my teeth and you guessed it...it slipped and ended up in my top lip... .......OUCH!!!!!....and yes it did xxxxxxx hurt...So my son learned how to take a hook at the tender age of 8 ...by snipping the shank of a 2/0 and un-hooking his prize catch....to this day we still have a giggle 20 years on about the one that never got away..... ...Cheers.

I was just about to net a big common on sunny1 when i had a hook pull ,the lead smashed in to my knuckles and the hook into my right forearm took me ages to thread the hook through to so i could crush the barb and get it out and my knuckles were mashed.

a friend of mine was fishing on the river,he was walking along the bank and slipped so rather than land on all his rods he threw his rod bag down the bank-a stainless bankstick come out and came to rest at the bottom of the hill which he was now sliding down-you guessed it he slid down the bank and kebabed himself 2inchs away from his butt hole and then out threw his butt cheek-not nice for him, even worse sight for me-theres a lot to be said for having cheap banksticks

i've had a few over the years lol.worst was a good few years back and still learning the very fine art of casting a lead to a island.one over cooked cast and straight in it went so there's me walking back with a bow string line a 2oz lead and 70 yards distance hoping it would come out well it came out but at about 100mph straight into my knee knocked me straight on me **** and the bigest lump i've ever had so people learning carp fishing when snagged on a island don't point the lead at you when walking back

i once got bit by a horsefly/mozzie (i never saw it) and before i know it my arm had swelled up and i could see a line of poison travelling up my arm through my vein. after a trip to the hospital i had to have my arm in a sling and a week off work. needless to say i now cover myself in jungle spray

I had a carbon stemmed pole float throughthe top of my hand after snagging up and pulling for a break! I always wrap my hand in a towel now because I never wantto feel the pain of having that pulled out again, lol!
Also, last year whilst fishing a local water I was stood chatting to a few mates one morning round another guys bivvy whilst having a brew. I was paying little attention to my mate who'd managed to cast a rig into a bush. The first I knew of it was when his 3oz lead came back and hit me in the hip bone, narrowly missing my favourite mug! It hurt like hell but the hollow thudding noise that it made when it hit me will not be forgotten!!

but my hand in my bait bag to only feel a sharp pain in my left palm, the latching baiting needle had gone into my palm and the latch closed, i couldnt get it out. so i ripped it out, pulled skin out and off my palm and nearly fainted. dont like blood and my vision went white for about 10 seconds.....thought i was going to die!!!!!!!! wasnt that painful just wished i was someone else watching the colour drain from my face and wobble lol

was fishing in fir tree fisheries a few years back and all of a sudden this fella walks past with all his gear and the biggest eye ive ever seen. he told me, through obvious pain, that hed got caught on something in the water and the elastic on his pole had snapped and the elastic has shot back and hit him in the eye. massive shiner he had. another one was where a lad had cast to the island at the same fishery and the lead got caught in the mud. he pulled straight at him and the lead came out and shot at him, narrowly missing his head, as he ducked last second. that would have been some bruise as well
