Default grass carp

one of my mates is taking me fishing in the next couple of weeks to a lake that is full of grass carp.i have caught a few before mainly in france, though i`ve had them in england to 24lb.these fish were caught by chance not by targeting them.has anyone done any fishing for grass carp?.if so whats the best method of catching these critters!.was thinking of taking some maggots, corn, hemp, prawns and a few pellets.

i used to catch plenty of grass carp from off the top at moreton brickworks. they used to circle the lake in a shoal and if you put a load of doggies out they would eventually stop in front of you. you were able to pick off 2 or 3 and they would **** off. average size was about 6 to 8lb and they would fight harder when you got them on the bank.

Default Grass Carp

Well done with the 24 pounder, biggest I have had is about 15lb (oop`s just been told it is 21lb, caught it not through choice). They just seemed to pick up whatever bait I was fishing. Right about wanting to fight it out on the bank. They seem to zoom around a bit then lay on the surface so as you can pull them in. Once on the mat though it is "ding, ding, seconds out round two!

Pmsl

Everything thats been said so far sums the horrible things up in one. They eat anything, fight like a gudgeon until they are on your unhooking mat, at which point they turn into the anti christ and try and b***h slap you with their tails.

If I was to target the vile things I'd favour maize, pellet, gum shield and head guard...

Default Oh Well

I was not going to tell you this but I will. I played a grass carp of about 12lb once, well I actually played it twice! I played it and landed it, put it on the mat, opened the folds of the net to unhook it and it flipped, did a back sommersault and youve guessed it, back into the lake it went (don`t you dare lol), I had to play it again, net it again, then fight it on the bank. Sorry no pics, can`t think why. Now you can lol.

Caught a couple about 20 years ago in sale water park, fought slightly less well than a sick bream. Dont know if they are still in there or it was a new stocking that didnt last. Either way they wont be missed imo.

We were close to a full blown fight all because it didn't want its picture taken!!!!

had on em ultraplex this year but like others say I wouldn't fish for em if I had a choice.

Fishing next to my mate and he had non while I had 4 so I put it down to the ultraplex

I thought i'de hooked a plastic bag and it turned out to be a 25lb grassy !!

Boy did it beat me up on the bank as well and it bit me with it's bloody boney mouth when I went to take the hook out ...

AVOID THEM
