Question who's catch is it???

Last year there was me and a few mates on the bank, the topic of conversation went like this, If i was fishing and i have picked my peg, baited up, made my rigs and cast onto the spots i have chosen and at some point of the session i hook up into a fish and the other rod goes off as i'm playing said fish and my mate picks up my other rod and plays the second fish in, does this count as my fish or his fish..... all thoughts and views welcome...

Its a null and void capture, I'd never count a fish unless I had placed the bait hit the run and landed the fish

Its defo your fish but counting it is a tough 1
There is no way its the guy's who only played it to the bank and any decent angler wouldn't even dream about claiming it

If your mate was a gentleman he would hold the rod up , keeping the line tight to the fish and give line when needed without having to gain to much. Basically just letting it give him the run around. Obviously in a snag free open water situation. Until you were ready to take over. If it was landed whilst he was playing it, it certainly wouldnt be yours or his. Only my opinion.

Golden Rule: Its whoever lands the fish....but what type of carper are you if u count a fish that you never worked for? If it was my mates rod I would just fight it until he is ready to take the rod....and expect the same from them

I once went up the lake to see a mate, he was fishing. There was a group of carp sitting in some weed in the margins so I asked him if he'd got a rod I could use he says why and I said because I'm going to catch a carp.I had a low double in the net on a freelined boilie within minutes.I nearly didnt count it as it wasnt my rod and it wasnt my bait

You cant count fish when you havent done all thats needed to catch it, its like being in the tour de france, falling off hurting your knee having a mate to do a leg for you then getting back on the bike the next day and winning the race, it just aint cricket, imo

I know mate I'm just playing It was my fish as I did everything needed to catch it, but really you shouldnt count fish caught on bait you havent prepared yourself, if you've had a good season on ready rolled bait, its all good but they dont really count
