First thing I'd do is walk the water as much as possible and get talking to the regulars, make some friends!

Personally I wouldn't decide on just a couple of swims, I like to find the fish and put a bait on them, rather than pick a swim and wait for them to come to me! Saying that, on a water of that size you should never be far from the fish!

Choose a bait that you have confidence in or one that you know does the business on there. Get amongst the fish and your target will fall eventually!

Get to know the place and the people mate and you'll have a great time!

i would start with the marker and chest waders looking for likely spots.
i would try and get at least a few options, ideally that you could cover from different swims in case there or maggot drowners on.
i would trickle a bit of bait on these spots, and fish with small amounts of bait and add extra when leaving.

as the spring comes i would walk around the margins checking for activity. if possible [water clarity, etc] bait a couple of spots with a handful of large boilies [so you know it aint small fish] and look for disappearing bait.

if your wanting to put some bait in then there is nothing wrong with that. i would sooner find where the likely spots are, first, and give it to them where you know they are sitting up.
how much and how often is up to you.
as youve said its only a small water then you could cover most of the spots with a kilo, maybe a couple of times a week. more when its milder, and less when its frosty.
