I work'd in the quays around 2001, I used to go for the old dinner time walk abouts as well.

I spotted a few good fish down there, most were around the low double mark but I did see the odd low twenty from time to time

I Spotted the fish all over the place, but the area that I'd seen the 20's were off the dock near the blue crane's

I've fished it a couple of times. It's a wierd place. It's about as far from Mr Crabtree you will ever get and I wouldn't go any other time than dawn for a couple fo hours. If you want to learn how to stalk, it is the place. If you want beauty and tranquility, it certainly isn't.

I've only ever seen doubles in there but there is the odd rumour of bigger. Not sure I believe it myself.

A lot of the fish in there came from Sale years ago from a legit netting, and given that the strain from SWP have attained some good weights in various circumstances () it wouldn't be impossible for the quays to throw up a lump.

But you only have to look at the place to realise its nearer to fishing a swimming pool a la Big H and Little R (or vice versa, muddled!) than fishing a remotely realistic venue.

In the future, amidst playstation 5's and pop music just being 100% covers of yester-hits, there will be indoor fishing venues with pre heated water full of small carps and not a drop of mud in sight or a threat of rain. The quays is a rung on the ladder of this pending nightmare....
