Default needle knot..

hi fellas & ladys,
ive been attaching leadcore to my mainline by using the needle knot, but do you have to BLOB the end of the leadcore...?
because ive noticed on one of my rods that i didnt BLOB, that the strands where coming apart and maybe will come apart close enough to the knot causing the knot to come of the leadcore...
i just thaught i wouldnt blob it as the blob felt fairly rough/sharp and was wondering weather under pressure and friction the mainline would end up being cut of...
would sticking some heat shrink over the blob cure this...
thanks

you do need to blob the end to seal it mate if your using a longish leader the blob will be away from the fish it wont do any harm to put some shrink tubing on tho

i would normally put a bit of glue over the knot as well just for a bit of extra strength

when you put your splicing needle through the leadcore just touch the end of the leadcore with a lighter and smoothen off with your finger {no it wont be to hot to touch}.....if it is, your a tart
