Default numpties

I like to relax when I am fishing, I might be up and down looking for fish but I like it that way...lol.. As has been said you get a lot of it on day ticket waters but it can happen anywhere.
I went to a day ticket water the other week.Turned up it was pretty packed as its only about 2 acres so half a dozen and its pretty full.So I goes to the back of the island which was free.Matey round the corner is fishing 3 rods...I saw him cast 2 to the island which to be fair was right in front of both me and him.So not to worry I thought the island is too obvious anyway and everybody will fish to it.I had a nice little corner and some open water so thought this will do nicely then everybody has some water.

So I chucked out a lead to the open water to have a little feel about matey pipes up 'Got a rod there mate'

'so where am I supposed to fish then as you have the island as well(thinking any decent angler will realise everybody will benefit if we all arnt chucking to the same water..)

his reply 'you tell me where you are supposed to fish!'

So I chucked out again to the open water and he said nothing because it was probably 5yrds off his 'spot'. So I had a little think and waited a while.I know the fish in here are hungry and theres plenty of em.Out comes the spod out goes about 1kg of particle and 20 boilies just for a starter.I was laughing to myself as I did it as I know the average angler puts nothing in here and catches nothing...lol..Half an hour later I had my first fish and didnt stop all day, I love it when a plan comes together Matey never had a bleep. He even tried a spot along my margin and after laying down a nice bed of bait he cast into the spot which I knew was 8 inches deep.It was getting better and better...lol...Had he been courteous in the first place I would have told him this but I thought fekk it let him feed the ducks and waste another rod.

Sorry for the story but I just thought it highlighted the issue nicely

Common courtesy also means not having a slash in front of someone's conservatory...

not unique to carp fishing this one.

Same with barbel fishing, as soon as a few people know your catching all the the same stunts happen

I reckon one of the angling bodys/clubs should set up some kind of angling proficiency certificate where people new to angling can learn to care for the fish they catch and a bit of bank side ettiquete. I think this would really help in reducing the number of damaged fish we see and clashes between anglers.

Thumbs down

Allowing that many angler's on a 2 acre water is a crime in itself by whoever own's the dayticket water imo! Terrorising the fish with that much constant pressure!
Jesus! Deano mentioned the chap next peg had 3 rod's out! So you could maybe lookin at 30 rod's on a "pond"! Be suprised if the fish arent living amongst a Labrynth of line, rig's and no doubt rubbish littering the bottom etc.
Madness!

Not quite a certificate but if everyone was to read section 1 and 2 it would be a start.

Having taken over as Head Bailiff of a local club i can without doubt say that this is the biggest problem i have encountered, well this and littering but thats another subject. The problem is not only being caused by new members or the argos carpers but by a lot of the more established club members who think because they have been a member of the club for 10 years they have the right to control where and when people cast or fish their lines.

I have witnessed this first hand before, very annoying... way more annoying to me than a newcomer to the sport who doesnt understand, or hasnt got respect for other anglers.

Appologies for the rant but that kind of behaviour p****s me off.
I expect to be hung drawn and quartered for this, but here goes...

The average carp angler fishes between 2-3 rods?

I can't recall seeing the lines from a carp anglers peg all going in the same direction. I wouldn't expect them to to be honest. But to be fair most of the time you/they are fishing more than one peg anyway???

Cue torrents of abuse...

not in the case of fishing in a bay, were theres no other peg around that you can fish into etc... then some stupid cooornt sends his baitboat 130+ yard (google earth) straight thru 4-6 pegs, not arsed about anyone else, onto your spots.. that is just pure cheek.
" get the marker out, and cast until he turns the boat back" problem solved

Hmmm, bait boats, that opens up another can of worms...

Difference between men and boys I suppose, the size of their....... toys?

It is a question of courtesy... some people don't have a clue, unfortunately.
