Default Alkaloids in bait?

I've heared of carp being caught using additives such as alcohol and caffene. Has anyone had any experience using alkaloids in baits (LEGAL) that they are willing to share? I have had a lot of success on fermented particals that stink of alcohol in the past.

Also what health risks do using such baits pose to fish?

Don't think alkaloids has anything to do with alcohol. Caffeine does contain them but alkaloids very often carry a bitter taste....
