my advice would be dont waste your money, you'll struggle to get through the singles and when you do its only doubles! the food is rubbish my 3month old would go hungry there, and the toilets where not empty stunk to high heaven! there are better places and much nicer ones!

I'd rate this as the worst fishery i have ever fished and that includes dumps over here!

It really bugs me when guys can remain anonymous on forums and make remarks such as you have staffordjonny. Maybe you would like to give your name and also the dates when you fished Bounty. I need to ask this as I do not know you or the trip you refer to as you have NEVER contacted me, the lake owner, regarding your disatisfaction before. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us and that you did not have the gumption to make your feelings known at the time?

I have studied my records and have a hunch as to the trip you were on. If I am correct your group is one of only 2 to ever complain about small fish problems - thats with over 400 visitors since 2005. Again, if Iam correct with my assumption as to which trip you were on, I actually liaised with your party organiser after your trip. Indeed he did comment about the fish but made no mention of any other areas of dis-satisfaction food, bogs or otherwise, in fact, he asked about coming back out with his wife ...thats how bad HE thought it was.

To put the record straight i'd like to state where we are currently at with Developments at Bounty Lakes.....

Due to growing demand for Fishing and Motorsport camping we have made substantial investments this year. This includes the building of 2 cabins housing 4 english loos and basins and 3 showers and a wash area. These have 24/7 hot water. We have improved the Clubhouse and Bar and have added nice gazebo's and quality seating for up to over 100 to the lakeside terraces.

We have had visitors this year who are very seasoned French travelling carpers and they have said that they feel that our facilities are the best that they have experienced on ANY fishery in France.

Our Food package has been improved as follows:

Breakfast:
Breakfast Bar with as much Tea/Coffe and Juice and cereals as you want. Self serve toaster with as much Toast, Jam or Marmite as you want. After that a big full english breakfast and the option to "supersize" that for a modest additional payment.

Evening Meal: 3 courses - Soup and French Bread Starter, followed by main home cooked meal followed by a Dessert.

Our prices. A weeks Fishing £185 or with the above food package only another £70 on top (this year) at a total of £255.

Regarding small fish. I myself have never had a problem with small fish but I know a few guys fishing small baits have. I don’t call fish in there 20’s small fish and the carp in B1 go up to 40lb. The Grassies to over 40 and Cats to over 100lb, (100lb Cat came out last week!)

We do not claim to be a "whackers venue" but a venue where you can expect runs and to put a bend in your rod a couple of times a day with very hard fighting Carp - not pot bellied overfed fish with no fight, fed just to increase the weight !

We have stocked the smaller (Bounty 2) lake this year with 30 target Carp to 48lbs (these were mailnly 30's). Existing stock had already been caught to 38lbs. No fish have been taken from the main lake (Bounty 1) and our plan is to move some of the B2 fish to B1 for next year and then buy more stock to replace them in B2 (using B2 as a "quarantine/settling in" lake).

Average growth rates on B1 have been 4 to 5lbs a year for the last 3 years for the carp and most fish caught are in the
20's bracket with more 30's now showing and more nudging 40.

Despite the head of Cats, we have had successful spawing of Carp and Cats and to deal with any continung small fish we request all anglers to put any single figure carp or Cats under 15lbs in the Riseau behind the lake. We will be re-digging this in the Autumn to make this a growing on/stock pond area but will allow that to be fished single rod, float only - just for fun! Every 3 years we will harvest the better "fattened up" fish from the Riseau for B1 and B2. When we last did this in 2005 we recovered Cats up to 42 lbs! and then it was only a ditch!!

We are close to the famous race circuit and have just had over 130 people camping with food for the 24 hr race. The comments below were taken off a motor forum

Food and Service - 1 word - Absolutly Fantastic (yeah I know 2 words lol) but it really was top drawer......................I would suggest as a first class RESTAURANT service. 10/10 for the Food and Service

A year or two is a long time in France Jonny and like I said I am sorry you felt SO bad about us. It would have been sensible to have spoken to me rather than just slag us off ....however... you have every right to express you opinion the way you saw it.

Likewise I hope that my right of reply is considered acceptable by the Mods.

We'd be happy to welcome any Northern Monkeys at Bounty Lakes this year or in 2009.
In fact for the rest of 2008 I'll offer any Northern Monkeys a 10% discount on our fishing rates.

You'll be VERY hard pushed to find a better all round venue at better value ANYWHERE!

Steve

Well said Steve and spot on! there are too many people that hide on Forums making Digs at people etc and as far as I am concerned if you have a problem then speak out ..Had he done so you could have given him advice on Bait or Tactics etc as he may have been doing something wrong, you may have pointed out that he needs to drop a rod in a certain place etc etc. I fish in france all the time and hear these moaning, whinging idiots complaining to everyone who will listen but have not got the brains or the gumption to say to the owner " I Have a problem - Can you help me out? " and 9 times out of 10 its them thats at fault not the venue. I have fished for a week and blanked thats the way it goes but then when it happens to these numptys the next thing they are on a Forum Somewhere saying so and so,s venue aint got hardly any fish in it! then come the add ons as well like " Everyone Blanked - Swims were in a mess - Horrible food " But the good thing theres not that many about and if I ran a Business like yourself and could identify these people then I would say " If its that bad dont come back I would rather you stay away " Anyway rant over.

Someone asked for any info and i gave my honest and truthfully opinion, the place was a s*** hole! As for asking advice etc insomniac is not the on site bailiff for the place and i did ask his bailiff for help and all his answer to me was "work it out yourself and fish!" cheers Pal!

I'm sure improvements have been made, not that I'd wanna visit again to find out! in this industry first impressions are everything! lesson learnt in my book!

Obviously this forum is about peeps giving their opinions and Jonny you say yours is honest and truthful.

If you seriously think Bounty was a Sh**hole when you came 2 years ago you must live a seriosuly charmed life. Even two years ago Bounty was FAR FAR FAR from a sh**hole offering flush toilets, shower, good food and a licensed bar. Add to that secure parking, 3 phase electric, mains water, 50 metres between pegs .... i'm saying no more.

I'll concede that back then the two chemi bogs on the lake were bad and made worse by the fact that despite my repeated requests they were not tended to frequently enough. I can't comment about the service or help you got from my bailiff ....why? 'cos you didn't have the sense to complain to ME ...the bloke you booked with!!
Sorry but if it really was THAT bad why did you not contact me?

I think perhaps whats honest and truthful here is that you didn't catch what you were hoping for. Maybe 30's & 40's were'nt climbing up your lines... that doesn't make it a sh**hole.

You've missed my point so here it is again .... you didn't have the sense to contact me to discuss your greivances , if you had, i'd have done something about it. Also I repeat your party organiser contacted me after your trip and said NOTHING about poor food, NOTHING about bogs and in fact asked if I could fit him in for another trip. Perhaps you didn't tell him either ??

As for now .... Bounties facilities are 2nd to NONE. Bounty's package is amongst the best in France. As for fishing .... some do well, some find it hard...thats fishing! ...but anyone who makes the effort to talk to me before or after a trip gets straight talk and fair treatment.

Steve

Nice to see that improvements have been made, however on my visit none of said facilities where in place.

As there have been major IMPROVEMENTS it shows that when i visited it was nowhere near up to scratch! exactly as i have stated previously!

being the owner Steve you are not likely to agree with me! Well done on making desperately needed improvements!

Agreed Jonny I don't agree with you or your assessment from your visit 2 years ago but thanks for acknowledging the excellent improvements we have made at Bounty Lakes and, in fact, congratulating me. That must have been very hard for you!

For my part, I don't live in the past. What matters to me is what we offer to anglers NOW and in the future, not arguing the toss with you about what was on offer 2 years ago.

We are agreed tho' - First impressions count.
The first impressions of any anglers visiting Bounty NOW will be - WOW!
As for the fishing .... well they're in there ....just waiting to be caught!
