My son and I went down to our local farm pond on Saturday morning like we usually do... and baited up with bread.... not much happened (usually the catfish find it first and go crazy!). After a while I saw the tail of a mirror break the surface near my float and away she goes..... The fish screamed off, and just kept going, all the way accross the pond into a Christmas tree snag, and... 'ping' the line snapped!! Argh... the first carp I'd seen in months, and it breaks me off!
I continued to catch bass, catfish and bluegills all the way until my very last slice of bread... I wandered around the far side of the pond, and saw a koi just lying beneath the surface... I chucked out a few pieces of bread.... nothing happened... then literally with my last piece of bread on the hook I flung out my waggler about 4 feet infront of the fish....
.....and away she went... that fantastic feeling of the float going under... holy ***t I'd hooked her.... I was shaking like a leaf, because I'd been chasing this fish (and it's larger friend) for about 18 months, and finally I'd hooked it. She fought like a demon too, and had me nervous on a couple of occasions..... but with my trusty net boy at hand, we finally landed her....
YES!!!!! And what a corker!!
