Default Another US Mirror and something extra special

I just spent a couple of hours at the local farm pond with my son... He spent most of the time thrashing the water to a white foam with the end of his new 6 foot long spinning rod, whilst I tried to get the carp (mirrors and koi) feeding on bread.

After a short while, I had bass, bluegill, a couple of catfish, a gigantic snapping turtle and a pair of koi in the area... all were chomping at the bread except for the koi, who eat god knows what in this place, because I can't get them feeding on anything.

After another 10 minutes or so, I saw 2 mirrors enter the fold, and I cast my freelined bread over towards them.... then, whack, I was into a fish.... One of the mirrors had taken the bait, and after an exciting 10 minute battle, this corker was in the net and posing for a photo!

Then, after I put him back, all went quiet... as if the fish said... "get away from here, someone's fishing"!

The 2 koi re-emerged, and I literally spent the next 2 hours watching them, stalking them, sticking bread on their noses, and trying a tackle box full of immitation baits, real baits, bread, corn etc.... Nothing worked!

I then found a single piece of sinking tutti frutti plastic corn in the bottom of my bag, thought what the heck, stuck it on the hook, and wrapped it with bread.... I spotted a lovely yellow koi approaching, and cast about 5 feet in front of it.

To my astonishment the fish headed straight for it, and then 'twang'..... my line when tight, and I struck....... FISH ON...... Oh my god, I just hooked one of the elusive koi..... The most amazing battle took place over the next 15 minutes... the fish took me all over the place, and I ended up at the end of an 'out of bounds' falling apart jetty, trying to stop the fish from going around it... which it did, and then back underneath it!! Nightmare!! I was also netless, because I'd left it at the other end of the pond..... Luckily my 3 year old listened to me, and wanted to help his distraught dad, and handed me the net over the fence, and after a bit of back and forth around the jetty, I finally landed my quarry... My first ever koi!! Chuffed to bloody bits, I can tell ya'!

Mirror was 17-8 and the koi, although I thought was a defo 20+ was 19-6...

There is also an orange fantail which dwarfs this one!
