Default French Captures

I returned from France yesterday with a real grin on my face, I had a cracking week.

Etang De Vaumigny was the venue i decided to fish, it was along drive but i set of on the 12 hours and 1160 miles journey.

It was more than worth the drive when the fishing was concerned, The first day decided to walk around the lake in the hope of spoting a few I spent about 2 hours looking for features on every fishable peg, i set up in a swim to the right of the lake which was really muddy but had lots of underwater bars and gravel beds. The first night i had a Sturgon at 25lb a small catfish and a bream and the second i had a few bream and small catfish, i was not really happy with the result so far so i started to think about moving eventually i reeled in my rods and set my self on a tour of the lake in search of finding something promising. On the far lake i found a channel with a 2 ft drop that felt real carpy so at this point i introduced 10 kilo of bait into 4 areas and packed up my gear and moved around to the other peg by this time it was snowing heavy and really cold and i was shaking as i put the rods out on the spots , after half a hour i got a take as the middle rod teared of and after a 20 min battle i landed a sturgon at 20lb, another half a hour passed and the same rod went with a lovely golden mirror at 17lb 2 oz.
By this time the light was falling on this stunning french lake and before long i was woken to a 28lb 2oz mirror and a 16lb mirror. I was more then happy with the days results on i decided to stay on this peg and fish to the baited areas , on the fourth day i had a 29lb 4oz a 25lb mirror and 2 at 18lb and 2 sturgon to 24lb and 1 magical fish at 41lb , day 6 was slow really with no fish moving and with the wind changing direction all the fish was in the bay at the bottom so i reeled in all my rods and walked doen to the bay to see alot of fish building up in the area ao i did some thing that many may not agree with i had a walk down with my spod rod and scared them back out of the area, the next day was the last and i woke to a 16lb mirror and the day got better i ended up with a 16lb, 18, 23, 21 6oz, 42lber , 31lb 4oz , 32lb, 27lb and last but not least a 18lb mirror.

Sorry about the punctuation and spelling guys

Any way heres some pics of the fish

I have not put all the pics on but this gives you a idea of what a cracking time i had.

Well done mate, did I not say it was a great venue? 2 forties in a week from there in your first week is a fantastic result. I've been 3 times now and had plenty of fish to 36+, I'm sure a 40 is on the cards soon.
I'm in the process of trying to book me and Mutley on in early June. I wasn't going to fish it this year as i've got a trip planned for Millstone Pool in September, but I just can't resist the temptation.
