just wondered what most people do about there travelling arrangements we travel on the friday morning early down to herts then jump in the bus and set off it means we get there around 7pm friday night but we dont start fishing till 10am sat morning.it works well as we get a chance to walk the lake and chat with guys comming off, then we settle down and have a good few beers in the barn with a bbq so next morning were all fresh and ready to go it works well

I usually set off at about Midnight on the Friday and drive down to Dover for the 7am ferry to Boulogne. Then another 5 hour drive in France to the lake. Although it's a long drive I don't mind it,at these times it's quite relaxing, especially in France as there is very little traffic anyway.

Our first trip this year entails setting off around 3am to Dover, our ferry leaves around 11:45am.

We land at 12:35pm in France, and a 5 hour drive to the lake depending on traffic. We should around 6pm.

If there are any decent swims available I'll be paying an extra night and setting up camp ready for the morning onslaught.

My "first" trip mate in April

I got times mixed up, I took time off instead of adding it.

OK, my second trip.

We set off Thursday afternoon. We sail from Dover at 9:35pm.

We land at 11:35pm in France. The over night drive should take us around 5 - 6 hours I think, and we arrive at the lake around 6am. We've organised with Jim (Oldfellah) for us to arrive a day early, so we can make a nice fresh start the next day.

We can have a quick look at the lake, and sample some of the spectacular food I've read so much about, and have a few beers and pick Jim's brain for a day for some inside info.

We do drive overnight, but it's a day early so we will be able to rest up and chill out for a day before we start fishing.
