Ive been to cuba many times now mainly the Cayos, the fishing can be fantastic. The best method is to take some small hooks to catch the smaller fish on bits of prawn (a dollar to one of the hotel staff will get you sorted with these!). I then use the small fish as live bait. Cast these out and you will pick up all sorts of monsters, snapper, barracuda etc. Also i had great success in April using red popper type lures on the surface. Always use a good wire trace, ive had them snapped like cotton, nearly everything has teeth
![]() Remember to take everthing you need as you cant buy anything out there!!! Hope this helps

as stated take your own gear
bone fishing is the most common if a guided trip or you can go out on a game boat but there very limited in regards to fish finders etc etc lol and unless your there at the right time you will probably end up on a boat ride i was in holguin in june out of 5 boats only 1 caught the fish was a rare site aprox a 150lb white marlin which was the 1st fish since around sept the waters have been decimated by over fishing although around the cayo's and in the mandgrove there are lots of fish but its difficult to arrange trips there if your not staying there remember cuba is a very large place and transport is a problem a good idea is to see if the lads who do the hobby crafts will take you trolling for a few quid its great fun especially when theres a good breeze |
